About Wallara Australia
Wallara was founded in 1959 as a Centre looking after intellectually disabled children and some adults. It was then called the Dandenong & District Mentally Retarded Childrens' Welfare Association. Over the years, it has grown into a multi-faceted organisation, which deals with adults with a disability. Wallara offers supported accommodation, employment and community programs to a wide range of people over several sites in the outer Eastern suburbs of Melbourne..
Wallara Australia programs are designed to meet the needs of people with a disability. These programs are based on person-centred planning utilising the Personal Outcome Measures system of The Council on Quality and Leaderships; an international quality accreditation system operating in U.S.A, Canada, Ireland and Australia. The outcomes are based on the values of personal choice, control and self-determination, and stress safety, continuity, security and well-being.
