Wallara Support Services Accommodation
Wallara Support Services Accommodation is a quality accredited accommodation service for adults with a disability. We provide our residents with support to assist them to realize their personal dreams and goals. We have a commitment to support opportunities and experiences that promote personal growth and individualized achievements which are determined by the residents. Wallara is committed to "The Council on Quality and Leadership" Personal Outcome Measures as a guide for achievement and attainment for all the people we serve. These, along with the Disability Act 2006, ensure that all residents receive service excellence from qualified and well-trained staff.
Currently we manage 8 houses; 3 of these are temporary housing due to the redevelopment of the Potter St site. We have knocked down our congregate care facility to make way for 2 smaller homes on site and have another underway in the Metro 3175 project in Dandenong. All of the locations are people focused and people driven.
Work in the accommodation service can be a lot of fun; it encompasses our resident's lives and lifestyle, and our staff work in the homes of people we support. Within our houses there is a focus on providing support and encouragement to the residents in all facets of life, e.g. meal planning, household chores, shopping, planning social activities and ongoing health assistance (with regards to transport arrangements and assistance with medical professionals) to name a few. Living in the community and making use of the local resources assists our residents to take advantage of the many opportunities provided within their municipalities; recreational, special interest and/or community groups, health centers, library and fitness facilities etc.
