Rutherglen Street
Rutherglen St was established in July 2008 as temporary accommodation due to the redevelopment of the Potter St/Close Avenue site. This is pending their new and permanent accommodation known as the 3175 project, which is currently being built.
The new residents have settled into Rutherglen St and are reaping the rewards of an active outgoing lifestyle. They either work in supported employment or are a member of Wallara's community services where community activities such as bowling; craft groups and visiting the local library and shopping centres are enjoyed.
Each resident has the continuous support and involvement of their families and significant others for access and assistance within the community.
One of the residents at Rutherglen St is an active member of the Accommodation Representative Committee and represents her housemates with regards to their rights and responsibilities. She voices her opinion and advocates for the people of Rutherglen St and enjoys her role on the committee.
Everyone is happy to pitch in and help out with the household chores and the grocery shopping and all are becoming more independent, learning new daily living skills. Rutherglen St is an easy going, happy, warm and welcoming house with diverse personalities which compliment each other.
