Community

Each person with a disability is an individual and has different support needs and life goals. Our service is designed to be flexible and encourage innovation in supporting each person in a way that best suits them.

Our trained staff will assist you to select the level of support that will be required for you to access a variety of opportunities and experiences available in the community.

Support can be provided at home, at a work experience site, at a training facility, in a community based site or out in the community.  The amount of support available for each person will depend on the service selected.

Wallara provides services to people who have a wide range of abilities, interests and support needs. In addition to supporting people in developing and refining skills related to personal management / independence, health and safety, communication and socialization, activities are designed to promote the development of work related skills for anyone interested in pursuing vocational interests.  For each person a plan of services and supports is designed and implemented based on personal goals, current interests and outcomes that will enhance the quality of life for the person.

People participate in an array of activities directed towards personal independence including but not limited to activities of daily living, socialization, recreation/leisure, special events, community activities and work experience and volunteer opportunities.  People also have the opportunity to develop friendships and experience a connectedness to their community while learning new skills, developing new interests and pursuing personal goals,.  Wallara promotes empowerment, discovery and self-confidence in the people receiving services.

Services are provided at a number of locations throughout the Greater Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia areas.  These locations are as a result of partnerships with local community organisations/services such as Neighbourhood  centres, scouting and sporting associations. Currently community participation centres are located in the areas of:  Dandenong South / Thomas Street Dandenong / Sandown / Springvale / Keysborough / Dandenong West / Narre Warren / Endeavour Hills / Doveton / Dandenong North.  New sites are added on a regular basis.
