Treasure Trunk Opportunity Shop
Located at 43 Menzies Avenue in Dandenong North the Opportunity shop has been operating under the direction of Wallara for over two years. The large premises accommodate a wide variety of goods - clothing, manchester, bric-a-brac, toys, books and furniture. The shop is managed daily by a rostered team of volunteers, including people with disabilities who give great service in tasks such as sorting, cleaning and preparing goods for sale, pricing goods, stacking shelves and serving the public.
For a number of people supported by Wallara the Opportunity Shop has become a valuable training ground to learn about a work environment, retail sales, stock pricing and transfer, money handling and customer relations. Volunteers work side by side with the people supported by Wallara and many valuable friendships and strong social connections have developed.
The shop has a good regular clientele who keep coming back to look for bargains. The turnover of stock is remarkable but we will always need more people to donate so that we can continue to keep the turnover moving. If you have not already visited the shop why not visit and select some bargains for yourself or perhaps you might like to give some time as a volunteer.
Donations can be left at the shop, Wallara's administration offices at 224 Thomas Street, Dandenong or any of Wallara's sites or houses.
