The Gift of Independence

Wallara has a mission to empower adults with disabilities to live the life they choose.

One of the adults we support Adrian, hasn’t walked unassisted for 10 years.  Adrian’s wish was for a life where he had the opportunity to walk on his own at his own pace, in his own time and not just when someone else decided he should.

With the help of local businesses, Wallara was able to grant that wish, and you can see the outcome in the below video:

Helping to realise Adrian’s wish has left us wanting to do more.  So we created The Wallara Wish Foundation which funds one-off gifts to the people we support to help them achieve something special in their life – something that they would otherwise not be able to afford.

In Adrian’s case, it involved purchasing and installing a specialised hoist and tracking system at our Potter Street headquarters in Dandenong.  This equipment is now used by Adrian and many others.

But wishes come in all shapes and sizes, just like the needs of the people we support.  It might be as simple as a night with a friend at the movies or a special birthday celebration.  Or it could be funding a trip to see family or a new wheelchair.  The Wallara Wish Foundation provides funds to make these wishes come true.
