What is an Australian Disability Enterprise (ADE)?
Some people with disabilities can sometimes find it difficult to obtain or maintain employment in the open labour market. Often they choose to seek employment with an ADE like Wallara Industries. ADE's provide a focussed and productive work environment yet remain sensitive to the employees' individual support needs. Whilst remaining a commercial operation that must be financially viable in its own right, Wallara is responsible in reporting to the Commonwealth Government for continued support and accreditation as an ADE.
ADE's have evolved considerably over the past twenty years, moving from the old 'sheltered workshop' concept that provided mundane and repetitive 'work-like' activities for people with disabilities, towards the model we have today that, as much as possible, mirrors everyday employment and business environments in the open market place.
